It had all started when  in 1998 the Tata Safari car was being launched by tata motors in India which was a dream for many people in the previous decade and many people were that time not able to afford SUV cars at that time.Tata launched the Safari with a 2.1 exit petrol engine that didn't work well in India because of the 2.2-litre diesel engine which offered great fuel efficiency and even torquier for the offroad duties.

The Toyota Fortuner was a premium SUV car that was being introduced in India in 2009 which was very much preferred by people in Punjab due it's bold SUV looks that made it very attractive since it's the first generation was launched and also it's offroading capability was something which had attracted many people to go towards this but later on, the Ford Endeavour also came in the competition which became a competitor to the Toyota Fortuner.Later on, both the Toyota Fortuner and the Ford Endeavour received a next-generation in 2016 with more features and a better safety package that was liked by many people.

Since 2009 when Fortuner and Endeavour gained popularity amongst the buyers the meaning of SUV cars was either Toyota Fortuner or Ford endeavour but cars like Ford Ecosport started the trend of mini SUV in India which had later gained popularity amongst the buyers when products like Vitara Brezza and S cross became a popular choice and considering sales charts of SUV cars in India several brands had stepped forward to launch new products in the segment of SUV cars which were more popular than sedans and hatchbacks and also started receiving new features like connected car technology which is popular in the Hyundai Venue and the Kia Seltos.
